Day 5 – Lazy and batshit crazy day!

Lazy day... we took a walk over to near the Imperial Palace, my Russian travel agent had realised it was quite a faff to get tickets, so we have saved the actual palace for our next visit, however the Hibiya park which we walked through to get to it was so peaceful, and so Japanese. And really beautiful with the sun out.

This is what we saw when we entered the park, can you really get more Japanese than water, bonsai and a stork?

And little turtles
 Turtle foreplay
 Beautiful big tree
The other end of the park as we left

Then we walked past the old moat for the Palace, again, so peaceful.
This was the walkway up to the palace, I am always fascinated by how beautiful even the larger trees here are, so much care and attention is taken to create such a lovely environment.

Batshit crazy part...

All ruined when we went to the Robot Restaurant... really it was the Spy's idea, and strangely it seemed to be run by Russians.

This was the really classy pre-show waiting lounge

And the pre-show entertainment, murdering Alicia Keys songs

We both reckon it is how Russian's have envisioned Americans see Japanese entertainment, as all of the food and drink (which you were incessantly being sold by young girls with boards, like the ones you see at boxing matches with the signs for the rounds) was Americanish, popcorn, beer, beef jerky, fried chicken, you get the idea.

We stayed for two parts of the “show” bearing in mind there was 15 minutes of “entertainment”, then a 15 minute break, then another 15 minutes of “entertainment”, and another 15 minute break, and this was due to go on for 2 hours! Apart from it being shockingly terrible, it was also surprisingly cramped, with 3 rows of people on each side of a long room, and the entertainers, went up and down the middle aisle. Noisily. Also, the robots were clearly remote controlled by very bored looking operators (all dressed in black so clearly completely invisible).

If you were 6 years old, or trashed, it would be funny.

Anyway, back to the hotel for a last nightcap in Tokyo, we both plumped for the Japanese merlot from Kyoto, which was really very drinkable.

Pity we don't like whisky though, as there were hundreds to choose from, the hotel is part of the Scottish Whisky Society ) or something like that.
Off to bed to get up for the bullet train to Osaka.
